For about 50 people gathered at the Dixwell Avenue Congregational Church Friday evening, the spirit of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was among them as they honored the legendary civil rights activist on the 40th anniversary of his death.

At 6:01 p.m. - the time of his assassination - the church fell silent for one minute and people bowed their heads in remembrance of King.
