'We Have Become the Very Thing We Stood Against'?

Summary


The United States has lost its moral authority to criticize the Russian government's action in Georgia. Our foreign policy includes "pre-emptive war" and we have no place at the podium. Lecturing other countries about unlawful invasions of sovereign nations will have to fall to some other nation that believes in the rule of law and in the basic premises of human rights and liberties and conducts itself accordingly. Tragically, we are no longer a model for the world to follow. We re-paved our model road over the last eight years and it is no road to follow. We are no longer the "beacon of democracy."

All President Bush represents when he stands before the press and warns Russia to leave Georgia is hypocrisy.
