Utilities Panel Takes Steps to Restore Use of Well

The Public Utilities Commission Tuesday approved a plan to spend nearly $24,000 to return to service one of the three wells that supplies the town's drinking water. Commission members voted unanimously to approve an amendment to the current budget to spend $10,500 on installing new screening inside a municipal well located in Prageman Park, said Roger Dann, general manager of the town's Water and Sewer Division.

The panel also approved a bid waiver that would allow a Massachusetts-based company that is already doing work on the well - which was taken out of service about a month ago when pebbles ssized stonestarted turning up in it - to install the screening, Dann said.
