Summary
In response to the editorial "Medicaid spending is a black hole," I note for those who feel the cost of universal health care is too great that $740 million dollars is coming out of everyone's pocket and still people are not getting care. Also, be aware that because of the amount of money that is being spent for Medicaid, citizens with insurance through their places of employment are being squeezed by increased premiums and co-payments in order to cover the cost of insuring the uninsured.
Connecticut has approximately 400,000 underinsured or uninsured residents. That is 11 percent of the population in the state. Insurance costs increased 77 percent since 2001, while earnings only increased 13.2 percent.See the full content of this document
