It's poor form in the world of sports to look past the next game because ... well, because the ground will open up and swallow a team's focus and direction, that's why. Sickeningly bland, isn't it? But it might just be the greatest strength of the Connecticut Sun, who won their ninth consecutive game Thursday night - all without star Nykesha Sales - in a battle of opposite-coast titans at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

As much as the company line must not be compromised, this wasn't just another game. To the victorious Sun (23-6) go the spoils of having the best record in the WNBA, a tidy 72-63 affair that also moved the casino dwellers two games ahead of the second-place Detroit Shock in the Eastern Conference with five games remaining in the regular season.
