Forget Temple's 1-6 record this season. Forget that the Owls haven't had a winning season since 1990 or the fact that they have a 13-72 record in Big East play since the football conference was formed in 1992. All of the above is distressing, certainly. But what's worse for Temple is that it is being shown the door out of the Big East after this season and it has no alternative other than to play an independent schedule next season.
That schedule promises to be brutal. Temple, which gave up 70 points in a home loss to Bowling Green and 45 in a road loss at Toledo this season, plays five games against Atlantic Coast Conference teams and opens the season at Arizona State, currently ranked No. 21 nationally.
