Summary


The phone call Saturday from the White House just left him speechless, and by Wednesday he was still having a hard time processing the news. Amargeet Singh, 16, of Waterbury, the son of immigrant parents from Guyana, was tapped to receive the President's Volunteer Service Award and to meet President Bush as part of his quick trip to the state.

"I got the call from Cindy, who works at the White House, saying how I got the award. I was speechless when she told me," he said of the unexpected honor.
