After years of struggling along without any state funding, Connecticut's Statewide Firearms Trafficking Task Force was allocated $400,000 in 2007 and the investment appears to be paying off.

From January through the end of November, the task force had seized 656 illegal firearms and arrested 37 people on gun trafficking charges, according to statistics state police provided.
