Suspect 'Had No Known Ties to Any Pro-Life Group'?

Summary

According to Forum columnist Gene Lyons, the murdered Dr. George Tiller was an absolute benefactor to humanity when he ended the lives of about-to-be-born children inches in distance and seconds in time from being delivered from their mothers. Nothing can justify the killing of Tiller. But it must be stated that Scott Roeder, the alleged assassin, is a militia activist with a history of mental illness who had no known ties to any pro-life group. Attempts to hint that his behavior is characteristic of the movement are malicious. Those "gauntlets of screaming demonstrators" Lyons describes in front of abortion clinics are almost always ordinary people of faith who have come to chant prayers in hope of changing minds and hearts.

Lyons cites every tragic case in the book as sufficient reason for an abortion. Indeed, there are many tragic circumstances that call for great compassion. I doubt anyone looks to homicide as a real solution.
