2 Suffer Minor Injuries in Branford Collision

BRANFORD -- The driver and passenger of a car struck by a dump truck that overturned after allegedly running a red light at North Main Street and Cherry Hill Road suffered minor injuries, police said. Police, firefighters and emergency medical workers responded to an 11:24 a.m. call and found that the dump truck full of stone had overturned and struck a utility pole, said Lt. Geoffrey Morgan.

The driver, Kert Newcombe, 41, of Middlefield, was going west on North Main Street with a full load of stone when he allegedly ran a stoplight and struck a vehicle driven by Mary True, 74, of 69 Greenfield Ave., while True was making a left turn from Cherry Hill Road onto North Main, Morgan said.
