Summary
Yale scientists have identified a gene that apparently controls aging and life span, raising the possibility that physicians may one day be able to delay old age and effectively treat aging-related diseases. The Yale research was conducted on the worm Caenorhabditis elegans, but nearly identical versions of the gene are found in humans and other higher organisms.
Results are in the latest edition of the journal Science. C. elegans is often used in genetic research because the organism's lifespan is about two weeks. Results of modified genes are quickly apparent.See the full content of this document
