Speed-Limit Study Under Way On Rt. 34

The state Department of Transportation has agreed to study the speed limit along the city's stretch of Derby Avenue after an Allingtown resident's complaint that area traffic accidents and fatalities apparently increased in recent years.

DOT Spokesman Kevin Nursick Wednesday confirmed the state DOT traffic division recently launched a speed limit study to evaluate whether the state, which technically owns the road also known as Route 34, needs to reduce the speed limit to increase motorist and pedestrian safety.
