Kate Lynch scored 15 points as seventh-ranked Southern Connecticut State defeated No. 16 American International 52-44 Saturday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball game at New Haven. The Owls, undefeated in seven games including 6- 0 in the conference, took their first lead on a basket by Babette Noah with 7 minutes, 40 seconds to play in the opening half. They never trailed again.

The Owls had a 12-point advantage (47-35) after a Lynch basket with 3:22 left before the Yellow Jackets made a brief run. A jumper by Alexis Castro closed the gap to 48-44 with 39 seconds left before the Owls' LaShauna Jones and Shamika Jackson each made two free throws to secure the win.
