Summary
State police are "just about done" investigating the shooting of a wanted felon by a West Haven police officer in New Haven late last year, state police Sgt. J. Paul Vance said Wednesday. Joseph Palermo, 41, formerly of East Haven, was shot by police Officer Jonathan Suraci, in a dark Mechanic Street driveway after Palermo led police on a chase Dec. 29 from West Haven into the Elm City.
State police immediately began an investigation to determine whether the shooting was justified, as is customary in any incident where a police officer shoots a suspect. Once finished, the report will be presented to a state's attorney, probably New Haven State's Attorney Michael Dearington, Vance said.See the full content of this document
