Kristyn Andrade, 12, will be crowned Miss Connecticut Jr. Teen America next month, even though the pageant was held in October. She represented Shelton and came in first alternate at the time, but was notified Nov. 19 the winner had been disqualified. The duty of the first alternate is to take the place of the girl crowned Miss Connecticut Jr. Teen America if anything happens, said Kristyn's mother, Lucy Andrade.
It was the second pageant competition for Kristyn, a seventh- grader at Shelton Intermediate School, her mother said. She took part in the same event in 2005 and placed third alternate.See the full content of this document
