Seymour Man, 90, to Receive Legion of Honor Award

Summary


World War II veteran John Fanotto, 90, witnessed the horrors of war during his five years in the Army, most of them spent stationed in England and France. He learned to speak French fluently and was an interpreter for the officers, despite the fact he had only studied the language in high school.

Fanotto was part of a company that liberated several towns in France in 1945, and for that role, he will be presented today with the Legion of Honor at the French Embassy in New York.
