Senior Moments: There's No Place Quite Like a Doctor's Office

Summary


I sincerely adore and admire my doctors. They keep my blood pressure and bad cholesterol numbers down, my good cholesterol and morale, up. They have removed lumps, mended broken bones and kept me operating at an age at which, a few generations ago, would have "done me in." But I hate doctor's offices. Recently, I went to see one of my esteemed practitioners, and arriving on time, was amazed when after only 10 minutes, the nurse called my name. Leaving the 1996 copy of Field & Stream that I had found in the waiting room, I hurried into one of those barren cubicles and was informed, "The doctor will see you shortly."

Even though the exam room was chilly, I changed into one of those sleazy paper gowns, trying to recall if the opening was to the front or the back. No matter, the entire gown could be airborne if I so much as sneezed.
