Mayor's Pay Raise Approved; Parties Split

Summary


The Board of Aldermen has voted along party lines to award 2.5 percent salary increases to those holding the offices of mayor and city clerk after the next municipal election. All eight Republican aldermen voted to approve the salary increases, while six Democrats opposed the measure. Alderman Nick Veccharelli Jr., D-2, was not present.

The current mayor is Republican James L. Richetelli Jr. and the current city clerk is Alan Jepson, a Democrat.
