With temperatures expected to dip into the single digits later this week, Gov. M. Jodi Rell plans to meet today with municipal leaders and community providers in an effort to ensure there is adequate shelter space. Rell said in a statement that she is urging emergency shelters to stay open longer hours during potentially dangerous temperatures and has identified emergency heating oil deliveries as a priority for the expected cold snap.

But it was unclear late Monday afternoon exactly how that will take shape or whether additional state money will be made available to help keep the shelters open.
