Lifetime channel hits a demographic bulls-eye with its Sunday night female-oriented series "Army Wives" and "State of Mind," the latter set in New Haven but taped on the West Coast.

The very watchable "State of Mind" is written by Durham's Amy Bloom, but "Wives" probably has generated more buzz, and it's pretty topical, with so many men and women headed off to Iraq and leaving loved ones behind in the real world. Sudden deployment is part of the drama in the season finale at 10 p.m. Sunday, as is a terrorist threat to the base and a couple of characters' pregnancy test results.
