Prosecutors, corrections and parole officials urgently need a modern computer information sharing system to help prevent future tragedies such as the triple homicide in Cheshire, lawmakers were told Tuesday.

Chief State's Attorney Kevin T. Kane said lack of adequate information technology is the reason police, prosecutors and the courts haven't been able to get sometimes critical information to the Parole Board and to each other.
