Letter to the Editor: Reclaim Industrial Land Along Quinnipiac River

Summary

It is great news that a pair of bald eagles has nested along the Quinnipiac River near the North Haven-Hamden town line. I hope this is just a small piece of things to come as this great river is revitalized to its past glory. Both North Haven and Hamden can play a key role in protecting and revitalizing the Quinnipiac for future generations by reclaiming the industrial brownfields along the banks of the river and converting them to open space and parklands. The tire pond and landfill that straddles the town line is the perfect place to start to reclaim access to the river by increasing the open space and parkland along its banks.

In addition to benefiting the bald eagles, the added open space and parkland will benefit residents by improving their health and well-being.
