The city Park, Beach and Recreation Commission wants to require roughly 200 coaches who volunteer in city-run youth sport leagues to undergo criminal background checks, said city Recreation Director Bill McCarthy.
The proposed policy would disqualify any person convicted of sex offenses, domestic violence crimes, certain drug offenses and child abuse. The proposed policy also gives the board discretion to disqualify a coach convicted or charged with any other misdemeanor or felony, McCarthy said.See the full content of this document
