Rain Wreaks Havoc with Ciac Schedule

Rain, rain go away. That's what the CIAC tournament officials are hoping for after this weekend's inclement weather postponed quarterfinal games in baseball and softball. In a rare move, baseball quarterfinals are scheduled for today. You would have to go back to the 2003 Class L final, when North Haven beat Seymour, to find a high school game that was played on a Sunday. All softball quarterfinals are set for Monday except a Class S game between Coginchaug-Durham and St. Paul-Bristol.

The decision to go ahead with baseball today was based primarily on pitching. CIAC rules state that a pitcher may only throw 10 innings in a three-day period.
