Rain, rain go away. That's what the CIAC tournament officials are hoping for after this weekend's inclement weather postponed quarterfinal games in baseball and softball. In a rare move, baseball quarterfinals are scheduled for today. You would have to go back to the 2003 Class L final, when North Haven beat Seymour, to find a high school game that was played on a Sunday. All softball quarterfinals are set for Monday except a Class S game between Coginchaug-Durham and St. Paul-Bristol.
The decision to go ahead with baseball today was based primarily on pitching. CIAC rules state that a pitcher may only throw 10 innings in a three-day period.See the full content of this document
