Rabbi Herbert Brockman of Congregation Mishkan Israel, Hamden, was honored at the Father Howard Nash Leadership Award Breakfast Thursday held at the New Haven Lawn Club. The Board of Directors of Community Mediation, which holds the breakfast, honored Brockman for his many efforts in bringing together individuals, groups and organizations to work to bring about mutual understanding and resolve community conflicts.

Brockman was recognized for fostering improved communication and to promote social justice within the Greater New Haven community. He is deeply committed to improving understanding and respect among people with varied beliefs, challenges, and concerns, officials said. Brockman's community involvement includes his active role with the Interfaith Cooperative Ministries. It was through ICM that he developed a collegial relationship with the Rev. Howard Nash.
