Presidents Day Slights Washington, Lincoln?

Summary


Every February, I am reminded and cannot believe that we do not have a separate holiday for George Washington, the father of our country, as well as a separate holiday for Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was solely responsible for keeping the Union together and seeing us through the Civil War, which was the bloodiest war in American history with more than 600,000 Americans killed. Slaves were freed forever because of his actions.

Combining the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington in one holiday called Presidents Day does not honor these two men as they should be remembered. I wonder if most kids in schools today are aware of the contribution these unforgettable presidents made to this country?
