As a long time environmentalist, I enjoyed reading Sandi Shelton's article "On Johnson's Pond." It reminds us that the New Haven region has incredible natural resources and people who are willing protect them from development.

The work to preserve Johnson's Pond in Hamden as open space was a collaborative effort. Besides contributions from the town of Hamden and the land trust, the Regional Water Authority contributed $25,000 to preserve the parcel and the natural beauty captured on film. The authority has a conservation easement on the property to prevent the land from ever being developed. We also own the land adjacent to the pond.
