Milford will receive a 4.5 percent increase in state funds this year. That adjacent communities such as Stratford and West Haven will receive more from the state prompted state House Speaker James Amann to comment that it didn't seem fair that Milford gets penalized for its financial success. How ironic that Amann and legislative Democrats have no problem penalizing individuals for their financial success by perennially trying to raise the income tax rate for wealthy Connecticut residents, but asking wealthy municipalities to make sacrifices is somehow unfair.
The truth is that politicians in Hartford are on a drunken spending spree. An 8.6 percent spending increase is simply not sustainable. In future years, as legislators scramble to come up with revenue sources to feed this insatiable hunger, an income tax increase will once again be floated by Amann and his minions.See the full content of this document
