Mark Picard will serve no jail time for attacking his daughter's softball coach with a bat in 2005, provided he complies with a lengthy list of conditions for probation. Picard, 48, of North Branford, received a suspended five-year sentence from Superior Court Judge Nicola E. Rubinow on Wednesday for his attack 17 months ago on former Sacred Heart Academy softball coach John Crovo.
"You have a 48-year-old man with no prior criminal record," said Rubinow. "He has already made tremendous progress in treatment, and has made large civil restitution. ...
