HAMDEN -- Police late Tuesday were looking for a woman who held up a branch of People's Bank in the Stop & Shop supermarket, 1245 Dixwell Ave., Tuesday afternoon. The woman entered the store at about 2 p.m. and passed a note to the teller demanding money. The note indicated that the woman had a gun, though no weapon was shown. The robber got away with a few thousand dollars, police said.
No one was hurt, Deputy Chief Jack Kennelly said. The store had its regular crowd of shoppers at the time of the robbery, he said.See the full content of this document
