Despite elementary classroom sizes being on par with statewide averages and district history, they are still too big, according to parents who spoke out at a public forum Tuesday night. The problem, parents said, is that third-graders at Daisy Ingraham Elementary School went from having 15 or 16 students in a class to 21, a jump that occurred in just a year. On top of the increase, the third grade, going on fourth, has several special needs students and a much higher percentage of boys than girls, which can mean more discipline problems.
