Summary
This oil, "The philosopher's daydream," by South Windsor's Brian Burke, was recognized by the Society of Illustrators' Student Scholarship Competition. Burke, a senior at the Paier College of Art in Hamden, will have his work exhibited May 6-June 6 at the society's gallery in New York City. The exhibit, with student works selected by a celebrated jury, features "the most mature, sophisticated and well-crafted illustrations of the year from art schools around the country." Burke is the only Paier student among the group, which will be honored in Manhattan May 6 at a gala opening at the gallery, 128 E. 63rd St., New York.
