Naacp Asks Rell to Raise Diversity in Her Administration

Summary


The NAACP on Friday asked Gov. M. Jodi Rell and several other influential state leaders to set aside time in the immediate future so the organization could offer advice on how Rell could improve diversity within her top leadership roles. One day after Rell accepted the resignations of six state agency leaders, state National Association for the Advancement of Colored People President Scot X. Esdaile issued a letter Friday to Rell requesting an appointment to "speak directly about the inadequate representation of people of color in leadership roles within your administration."

The letter says the meeting would serve as an avenue for the NAACP to provide Rell with counsel and the opportunity to make "quality recommendations" on how she can make inclusion and diversity a priority in her administration, especially in terms of appointed commissioners.
