'My Badge Was Indeed a Badge of Honor'?

Summary

The headline was "Madison pays steep price." Next to that headline was a police badge labeled "A Badge of Dis-Honor." To what does this refer? I am a retired Hamden police officer. My badge was indeed a badge of honor. There is no black line on my badge nor does the black line appear on the many hundreds of badges held by officers I know. The Register painted an insult on the badges of 95 percent of good and decent men.

Madison has a problem, as do New Haven and some other departments. Please mention that most police officers live up to their sworn duty.
