Summary
AS the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People celebrates 100 years of progress, America is a better place because of its existence and fortitude during a long and arduous journey, overcoming many obstacles and criticism. In these darkest of times of foreclosures, bankruptcies and job losses on the rise, the civil rights of all Americans should stand the test of time regardless of the winds of change. Without question, there are continuous challenges to the civil rights of others by individuals, groups and the media in their negative depiction of fellow Americans based on race, ethnicity and religious beliefs. Disrespect is displayed even to the person holding the highest office in the land.
We should all be very proud of the advances we have made as part of the democratic process that represents the spirit of America. The sacrifices we have all made to make this a better nation are evident by the results of the recent election.
