There has been much debate the past few years on how best to revitalize Eisenhower Park.

Initial ideas included relocating the Community Gardens and creating a youth sports complex that included soccer and softball fields. But opposition led the city to spend $1.3 million to acquire land on Orange Avenue to create the sports fields there and leave the Community Gardens at the park. There has also been talk about creating new features that would generate revenue, including a "spray park," a swimming pool, playground, adding a summer day camp, a field house and new basketball courts.
