As Mel Thomas made her way to Brazil in pursuit of Pan Am Games gold in July, she must have wondered just how she and the rest of the star-studded squad would mesh with Angel McCoughtry, her United States teammate and Big East rival.
The last time the two shared a court in an official game, Thomas was one of the host of University of Connecticut women's basketball players who had a chance to harass and frustrate the newly crowned Big East player of the year.
