NORTH HAVEN -- First Selectwoman-elect Janet M. McCarty has enlisted friends and residents to help her ease into her new job. It's been non-stop for McCarty since last week, when she was elected first selectwoman by 1,064 votes over incumbent Republican First Selectman Kevin J. Kopetz. McCarty, 58, will be the first woman to hold the job in North Haven and the first Democrat since 1969.
