Madison Man Tapped to Lead State Homeland Security?

Summary


MADISON -- Gov. M. Jodi Rell has nominated a town man, and former Coast Guard captain, as the state's next commissioner of the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security. Peter J. Boynton is the former captain of the Port of New Haven and current federal security director at Bradley International Airport. He served more than 28 years in the Coast Guard, according to Rell's office.

Prior to his role in New Haven, Boynton, 52, was chief of governmental affairs for the 1st Coast Guard District in Boston. He also has served as director of global affairs on the National Security Council staff at the White House, according to the governor's office.
