Democratic nominee Ned Lamont is making gains in a three-way U.S. Senate race, but incumbent Joseph I. Lieberman continues to lead while running as an independent, according to the latest Quinnipiac University Poll released Thursday. In the gubernatorial fight, Democratic nominee John DeStefano Jr., fresh off a tight primary win over Dannel P. Malloy, moved up slightly in the race with GOP Gov. M. Jodi Rell, but she continues to be ahead by at least a 2-to-1 margin.
Just over a week after Lamont beat Lieberman in a party primary by 10,000 votes, the 18-year Democratic incumbent claims three- quarters of the likely Republican voters and 58 percent of independent voters, according to the survey.
