Summary

At a public hearing on a resolution to have the state police come to New Haven to aid the city police in the battle to decrease youth violence in the city, the chairman of the aldermanic committee stated that there were more murders during my tenure as mayor than there are under the DeStefano administration. The implication was that I was wasting their time, should go home, and keep my mouth shut. The mayor and the chief of police have stated that there is a shortage of police to cover the city.
