NEW HAVEN -- The city's Office of the Corporation Counsel is seeking approval from the Board of Aldermen to pay $61,797 in cost overruns on a contract with an outside law firm. During the 2003-04 fiscal year that ended June 30, the city entered a legal service agreement with Berchem, Moses & Devlin P.C. at $175 per hour or a maximum of $20,000 to help with a search for a new labor relations director. The attorney who held the post, William Clark, left the city and went into private practice with that firm.
Corporation Counsel Thomas Ude Jr. and city Controller Mark Pietrosimone submitted to the aldermen Sept. 7 an amendment that would increase the maximum compensation to $81,797.See the full content of this document
