'Jews Rock' Program Slated for Saturday

Summary

WOODBRIDGE -- The third annual "Latkes and Vodka" featuring Rabbi Brian "Rockin' Rabbi" Leiken, and his multimedia experience, "Jews Rock," will be held Saturday evening at the Jewish Community Center, 360 Amity Road. The adults-only event is sponsored by Young Adult Division and Women's Philanthropy of the Jewish Federation.

Leiken, of Temple Shalom in Norwalk, and Janet Macoska, primary photographer for the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, researched the role of immigrant Jews in the creation of rock and wrote a catalog of Jewish musicians, songwriters, record executives and innovators. They also explored the Jewish tradition and the birth of rock. "Jews Rock" is a photography exhibit, a lecture series and a coffee table book.
