Interim Report Raises More Questions On Proposed Natural Gas Facility in Sound

An interim report that a Connecticut task force released Wednesday raises far more questions than it answers about a proposed $700 million liquefied natural gas facility in Long Island Sound. The task force chairman, state Sen. Leonard A. Fasano, R-North Haven, said they still need answers about everything from the security plans for the LNG plant, to the intended market for its natural gas, to its impact on Long Island Sound shipping and the environment.

However, the task force concluded that there appear to be affordable alternative sources for natural gas for the Northeast other than the $700 million Broadwater project in the Sound.
