Ex-Hamden Man Gets 24 Years in Sex Assault

Summary

MILFORD -- Protesting his innocence, a former Hamden man repeatedly convicted of sexual assault was sentenced Monday to 24 years in prison. Michael Armfield was convicted earlier this year, after a jury trial, of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in his sister's West Haven apartment nearly four years ago. Following the trial, he pleaded guilty to a charge of being a persistent violent felony offender, doubling his potential sentence.

Armfield will be on probation for 10 years following his release and will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. Armfield faced up to 40 years in prison.
