Summary


A coalition of mayors Thursday presented a plan to increase state funding to public schools by $2.6 billion a year by expanding the sales tax and adding a state property tax.

The Connecticut Coalition for Justice in Education Funding's plan, unveiled at the Legislative Office Building, would add $1.5 billion more a year to the $1.1 billion increase in education aid proposed by Gov. M. Jodi Rell to make up for decades of shorting schools.
