GOV. M. Jodi Rell has proposed a strong two-year state budget designed to help Connecticut cope with the difficult economy and a large state deficit. Her $38.4 billion package calls for tough choices while maintaining shared priorities. Rell's budget has three key priorities, which I share: no new taxes, maintaining education funding and reducing the size of government.

Connecticut faces a projected deficit of $6 billion to $8 billion. Rell has a strong blueprint for eliminating it.
