Summary
A death notice in Saturday's Register brought back, for those old enough to remember, a flood of memories of the murder of Concetta "Penney" Serra in a stairwell of the Temple Street garage on July 16, 1973, the protracted investigation over the next quarter- century and eventually, in 1999, the arrest and subsequent conviction of Edward Grant. The death notice was for Anthony Golino, who had died at age 57. A schoolmate of Serra, Golino in July 1984 was charged with the murder.
The killer, who cut himself in the attack, bled inside her car as he drove it to a lower level in the garage and left a trail of blood on several levels as he searched for his car, had type O blood. In May 1987, on the eve of the trial, a court-ordered blood test found Golino had type A. The charges were dropped.See the full content of this document
