Summary
Regarding the police pat downs at Seymour High School's graduation, they are not a good idea. They do not make us safer. They cannot be done appropriately, and whether youths are trustworthy or not is irrelevant. Pat downs are unreasonable searches and seizures when there is neither a warrant nor probable cause.
The constitutional right to privacy is at stake. The Fourth Amendment says: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."See the full content of this document
