Forum: Regionalization Can Help Stop the Economic Decline

Summary


OF 15 area towns, none, except New Haven, has more than 33 percent of their working residents commuting to jobs within their town's borders. Stated differently, 67 percent or more of residents of 14 of the region's 15 towns depend on employment outside of their town. In other words, they depend on the economic health of the region as a whole, and not merely on the economic health of their particular town. Our towns are inherently regional and economically interdependent.

If the economic health of the region suffers, there is no single government or private organization with the appropriate scope to address the problem, except the Regional Growth Partnership.
